The T-Scan™ Occlusal Analysis System is a diagnostic tool that uses computerized technology to analyze a patients’ bite and occlusion. It measures the timing and force of each tooth’s contact with the opposing teeth during biting and chewing. Read more below to learn more about the T-Scan system in Salt Lake City, Utah, or call Brighton Dental at 801-943-2020 to schedule an appointment with our dentists, Dr. Kelly Carroll, Dr. Anthony Acuña or Dr. Madison Smith.
The T-Scan Occlusal Analysis System consists of a handheld sensor and a software program that displays the data collected. The sensor is placed on the patients’ teeth, and the patient bites down on a thin sensor, which records the bite force and timing. The software then converts the data into a digital 3D model of the patients’ bite.
The T-Scan system is beneficial for a variety of dental procedures, including the placement of dental restorations, such as crowns, bridges and implants. It allows our dentists and team to precisely adjust the height and position of a restoration to help ensure a comfortable and natural bite. It can also help diagnose and treat issues such as teeth grinding, jaw pain and temporomandibular joint (TMJ) disorder.
One of the significant advantages of the T-Scan system is its ability to provide real-time feedback to our dentists and the patient. As the patient bites down on the sensor, the software displays a color-coded visual representation of the bite force distribution, allowing our dentists to identify and address any areas of excessive or uneven force. This feedback can help prevent complications and ensure a successful outcome for the dental procedure.
